Issue: Injured Thumb
“I managed to blow apart the bottom of my left thumb with a table saw whem I wasn’t paying attention. I decided to laser it every day for ten minutes and document the healing process. My thumb has almost returned to being completely normal. You can barely see a scar line where the blade originally cut me the deepest. That straight line scar has a small mounded crease over it that feels like a small scab over my thumb. The rest of the thumb feels normal. I have all the feeling and padding back. This last week was the first time I could push on my thumb against metal objects like keys or door handles and it didnt hurt. Because before that, it looked healed but was very tender where the new skin was. If I pushed against the wounded area it would hurt like a knife stab. Today I can push against it hard and there is only a small tingle of pain under that single scar line . The rest of the thumb feels normal now and there is no numbness or pain. It also looks like the size of my thumb matches the other one pretty well. It’s hard to believe it healed up so nice after being so traumatized.
By the way, as it was being healed, it started to itch really badly and there was small nerve pain that was shooting up my wrist off and on. So, I lasered the wrist and the thumb for fifteen minutes and that itching and pain left and never came back. Pretty cool.” T. Larkin
Issue: Skin cancer excision with no skin graft required
This patient had an excision of a skin cancer using the Mohs micrographic surgery procedure. The first picture was taken shortly after the procedure was performed. The second picture was taken 10 days later. At that time the patient was told that the area would accept a split thickness skin graft, the doctors felt would have to be done when they initially saw the lesion. She decided to continue using the laser. The last picture was taken about 6 weeks later. No skin grafting was ever done. She used the laser a couple of minutes 2-3 times per day. Every doctor shown the initial picture has said a skin graft would definitely be required.
